Charlie Blakemore Chasetown’s Manager said “This scheme is a fantastic opportunity for players age 16-18 to study and play football full time.  We want to bring the best local players through and also young players who have slipped  through the net at professional clubs”. “Students that do not have the qualities to gain a professional contract will have gained good employable qualifications within the leisure industry or as a young coach in schools or leisure centres”.

The scholarship scheme will also create jobs as additional full and part time coaches and physiotherapists are required.

Andy Turner the first team coach will be scheme Manager he played professionally for Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth and progressed through the FA National School of Excellence at Lilleshall.

John Donnelly Chairman said “There are 30 places available, it’s an amazing opportunity for talented footballers to follow and realise their dreams Chasetown is a community football club and following the success of the past few years and the support of the community this scheme is a fabulous way for us to support young sports minded people, and create a unique apprenticeship scheme in non league football that also supports our own 25 junior and girls football teams  the key ability in being able to qualify and offer this scheme was the strong relationship between the football club and Chasetown Specialist Sports College who will deliver the educational sections of the programme”. Chasetown FC is part of the community and an innovativeand forward thinking club – we hope to find and develop some future stars”.

Lawrence Langdon from Law Training Limited said “We have been working on this programme for 5 years to ensure all football clubs have the opportunity to offer an education programme. Chasetown are unique in non league football to offer this scheme.
