The Scholars continued their fine start by maintaining their 100 percent record on Saturday. A strike from new signing Alex Bradley saw us defeat Anstey Nomads 1-0.
Belper Town finished last season 4th in the East division of the Northern Premier League. However, The Nailers were unable to impress in the play offs losing 2-1 in the semi-final to Stocksbridge Park Steels, who eventually won promotion to the Premier division. Reorganisation for this season has seen Belper moved back into the midlands division. Over the summer the Derbyshire side have signed Keaton August, Micah Edwards, Kingsley Adu-Gyamfi, James Tague and Tavonga Kuleya from Heanor Town, Barwell, Kidsgrove, Anstey Nomads and Doncaster to replace star striker Harry Draper who has been sidelined with an injury.
This game is Belper’s sixth preseason game after following up a 1-1 draw to Belper united with a 3-1 defeat to Barwell. Belper also played a 1-1 draw vs Burton Albion, a 2-1 win over Gresley Rovers and a 4-1 loss to Matlock Town.
The previous game against Belper in October 2024 saw us progress on penalties after George Cater and Harry Draper netted in the FA Trophy tie. Our most memorable game against the Nailers is in 2022 when Belper won 1-0 and gained promotion in the play-off final.
Tickets for Tuesday are Adults & Conc. £5, U17s £3, U10s Free with paying adult. kick-off is 7:45pm at The Scholars Ground, Church Street, Chasetown WS7 3QL.
