Chasetown FC are delighted to announce the signing of Australian defender Leo Latter.
The young centre-back joins the Scholars after an impressive rise through the English and Welsh football pyramid since relocating from Sydney, Australia, in 2023 to pursue a professional football career.
Latter began his footballing journey with Hakoah FC and Mascot Vipers in Australia before earning a scholarship with EFL club Port Vale following his move to the UK at just 17 years of age. Subsequent spells with Sandbach United and Harrogate Town further developed his game before he made the move into Welsh football.
In 2025, Latter signed for CPD Y Rhyl 1879, where he quickly established himself as a commanding presence at the heart of the defence. His composed performances, strong defensive qualities and knack for scoring important goals earned widespread praise. He later joined Prestatyn Town on loan in January 2026 to gain valuable senior experience and continued his development with regular first-team football.
Now, the highly-rated defender makes the move to The Scholars and becomes the latest addition to Carl Dickinson's squad ahead of the new campaign.
Manager Carl Dickinson said:
"Leo is a young defender with a lot of potential and a real desire to improve. He's shown great commitment by moving halfway around the world to pursue his football ambitions, and that's the kind of character we want at this football club. He's gained valuable experience in both England and Wales, and we believe he has all the attributes to develop into a very good player for Chasetown. We're delighted to welcome him to the club and look forward to working with him."
Everyone at Chasetown FC would like to welcome Leo to The Scholars and wish him every success during his time at the club.
