The hosts, nicknamed The Greens, were founded in 2012 after a breakaway from the initial Northwich Victoria, who currently play at Step 5.
1874 Northwich began their league season on Tuesday evening on the road, suffering a narrow defeat to Newcastle Town. They have had success in the FA Cup already this season, however, securing a 3-0 victory over Rossington Main in the Extra Preliminary Round, setting up a tie at home to ninth-tier Horbury Town in the Preliminary Round.
For Chasetown, meanwhile, it’s been seven days since their last game. A resounding 6-1 victory against Coton Green saw them through to the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup to face Boldmere St Michaels.
The Scholars were due to get their league season underway against Kidsgrove Athletic during the week, but the Grove’s draw in the FA Cup meant a replay was required on the same date. In the end, Kidsgrove did not play their replay, and were removed from the competition for fielding an ineligible player. Please note - the rearranged dates for the home against Kidsgrove Athletic and Padiham will be confirmed and announced in due course.
The last meeting between The Scholars and 1874 Northwich was a positive one. Chasetown won 4-2 at The Scholars Ground, with Jack Langston’s brace adding to goals from Jordan Evans and Luke Yates. The last outing to the Creative Hut Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.
