It was not just the sun that shone as the visitors overcame the set back of relinquishing a 13th minute lead to return to the top of the table with a sizzling second half performance writes Russell Brown.
After Nick Hawkins had tested Lewis Skyers agility with a dipping shot that the keeper tipped onto the crossbar, the visitors took advantage of the resulting corner with deadly Dean Perrow snatching his fourth goal in three games, swooping in to glance in a header from the flag kick.
Boosted by that strike, Chasetown were expected to build up their momentum, but instead the Scholars found themselves pegged back on 21 minutes.
Craig Slater missed a tackle to allow Ed Lyons into the area and a clumsy challenge by skipper Lee Parsons saw Malvern take full advantage as the striker picked himself up to send Lee Evans the wrong way from the spot.
Chasetown could have been in further peril just before the break when a defensive mix-up gifted Dan Harding-Hall a gilt edged chance to beat Evans in a one on one situation, but the striker wastefully blazed the opportunity high over the bar.
The home side, without a point from their opening two games of the season fell behind to a spectacular goal in the 52nd minute.
Ben Steane and Paul Spacey combined on the right to clip the ball towards the far post. Branch cleverly headed the ball back across goal and Danny Smith executed the perfect finish with an acrobatic overhead kick that drew deserved appreciation from the crowd.
Branch completed a man of the match performance by laying on the third on 64 minutes. His precision cross left Spacey with the task of twisting into a header to beat Skyers from 10 yards out.
The Malvern Keeper produced two more great saves to keep out a rampant Chasetown side before a late Spacey free kick beat the former Cinderford shot stopper only for the ball to crash against the upright to keep the score line looking respectable.
