Honours were even as Smethwick Rangers brought forward their friendly with Chasetown to fill a gap when Walsall FC had to re-arrange their friendly with the Scholars.
Chasetown started brightly and took the lead with a close range effort from Jazz Luckie.
Smethwick played some neat, attractive football as the half progressed and deservedly equalised through Gurjit Singh midway through the half.
On the stroke of half-time, the visitors took the lead when the Kris Dickson netted from close range. At first, the assistant referee flagged to suggest an infringement but the goal stood.
The Scholars levelled late on with a well taken volley from Jordan Nadat from the edge of the penalty area and almost won it when Dexter Ravenhill’s shot came back off the post.
