Chasetown 2 Port Vale 1
The first home friendly under new manager Scott Dundas started brightly for Chasetown and they deservedly opened the scoring in the 10th minute.
Striker Jake Lovatt provided the assist with a dinked cross from the bye-line and Muzzy Nduna's powerful header flew in beyond Dequan Crockwell and in off the post.
Midway through the half it was 2-0. A short corner saw Port Vale concede a free kick just outside the penalty area. OIi Hayward drilled the ball low into the box and Nduna side-footed the ball along the ground past Crockwell.
The Scholars continued to dominate the first half but no further goals were forthcoming despite a number of impressive attacking moves.
The typical pre-season friendly multiple substitutions affected the flow of the game and the visitors reduced the arrears 12 minutes from time with a long range effort from Harry Benns which flew past substitute keeper Dale Reaney.
