The game started at a lively pace, with Bedworth nearly taking the lead after just two minutes when their striker crashed an effort against the crossbar. Chasetown gradually grew into the match, with Cameron winning an early free-kick before the Scholars produced their first major opportunity in the 11th minute. A delightful chipped effort beat the goalkeeper but struck the post and bounced away.

Bedworth continued to threaten from set pieces, forcing a corner before testing goalkeeper Pond with a routine header. Chasetown responded by earning a dangerous free-kick on the edge of the penalty area following a handball, but the resulting delivery failed to trouble the visitors.
The breakthrough arrived in the 24th minute. A cross from the left found a Bedworth forward, who finished clinically to put the visitors 1–0 ahead.

Chasetown's response was immediate. Just four minutes later, Jack Langston produced the moment of the match, curling a superb strike from outside the penalty area into the top-right corner to level the scores at 1–1.

The remainder of the first half saw Bedworth enjoy several promising set-piece opportunities, but the Chasetown defence stood firm. Pond was called into action again in the 38th minute, reacting sharply to smother a one-on-one chance after a Bedworth attacker broke through.

Chasetown almost ended the half in front as an ambitious effort floated towards the top-left corner before being comfortably gathered by the Bedworth goalkeeper. Another dangerous free-kick on the edge of the box in first-half stoppage time came to nothing, leaving the sides level at the interval.

The second half began with Chasetown looking the brighter side. Neat build-up play created encouraging openings, and in the 51st minute the Scholars carved open the Bedworth defence, only to see their shot drift agonisingly wide of the post. Bedworth remained dangerous from set pieces, winning a corner before Chasetown continued to press with further attacking free-kicks.

After a quieter spell in the contest, the decisive moment arrived in the 76th minute. Bedworth broke quickly down the left wing before delivering a dangerous cross across the face of goal, where an onrushing attacker was on hand to convert from close range and restore the visitors' lead.

Chasetown refused to surrender and responded positively, attacking with purpose down both flanks and moving the ball confidently in search of an equaliser. Despite sustained late pressure, Bedworth's defence held firm through the closing stages, frustrating the hosts and securing all three points.
