Chasetown set the tempo right from the opening whistle, starting strongly on the front foot with sharp passing and fluid link-up play.

An early warning sign came in the 8th minute when Langston played a lovely through ball into Cater, only for the linesman's flag to go up for offside.

Boldmere created their first clear opening in the 38th minute when a cross from the right wing found an incoming attacker, but Pond read the play well and caught the strike comfortably to keep the two-goal cushion intact at half-time.

Boldmere came out with intent in the second half, placing the Chasetown defence under early pressure.

Though Chasetown remained disciplined initially, Boldmere pulled one back in the 52nd minute when a strike from the right side of the box flew into the top-right corner to make it 2–1.

Chasetown responded quickly. In the 57th minute, Kyle unleashed a powerful shot that just cleared the Boldmere crossbar by inches.

By the hour mark, the game opened up significantly, with credit to Boldmere for continuing to attack while Chasetown actively pressed for a third.

In the 64th minute, Chasetown thought they had restored their two-goal cushion, but the effort was ruled out for offside by the linesman. Two minutes later, Boldmere won a dangerous free-kick right on the edge of the box, but the strike curled wide of the net.

In the 68th minute, Boldmere also had an equaliser disallowed due to an offside flag in the build-up.

The game's defining moment arrived in the 72nd minute when Boldmere were awarded a penalty. Chasetown’s trialist goalkeeper stepped up to make a stunning save, preserving the 2–1 lead.
