Chasetown FC put on a masterclass performance at The Scholars Ground, securing a commanding 6-1 victory over Coton Green FC in an eventful FA Cup encounter.

The match got off to an active start as Chasetown threatened early on.

In the 3rd minute, Findlay’s early cross was deflected out for a Chasetown corner by a Coton Green defender, which later on after the Chasetown corner was taken it was gathered up safely by the Coton Green goalkeeper.

Shortly after, setback struck for Coton Green in the 5th minute when their starting goalkeeper suffered an injury, requiring him to be stretchered off and replaced by a teammate.

Once play resumed, Chasetown found their rhythm and began dominating the flanks with excellent link-up play.

The breakthrough came in the 18th minute when Tak was played through one-on-one with the Coton Green goalkeeper, Tak though calmly slots the ball home to give Chasetown a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, a sweeping counterattack down the right wing found Kyle, who coolly doubled Chasetown’s advantage.

Despite a brief attacking display from Coton Green, solid defending from Nathan and key saves from keeper Curtis kept the visitors at bay.

In first-half stoppage time, Matt Hearsey beat his marker and slotted home a third goal to give Chasetown a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the interval.

The second half saw Chasetown maintain relentless pressure from the whistle, testing the replacement keeper with multiple early attempts.

In the 67th minute, Matt Hearsey capped off a brilliant individual performance by smashing a rocket into the net to grab his second goal of the day and extend the lead to 4-0.

Both managers turned to their benches to refresh their lineups, but Chasetown showed no signs of slowing down.

In the 80th minute, a pinpoint cross from the left was met by substitute Lachlan Suffell, who rose comfortably to head home the team’s fifth goal.

Coton Green managed to pull a consolation goal back in the 84th minute when they were awarded a penalty following a foul in the box, converted cleanly past Curtis.

However, Chasetown had the final say in the 90th minute when Suffell bagged his second goal of the match to wrap up an emphatic 6-1 triumph.
