The match got off to an active start at The Loughborough University Stadium.

Loughborough Students opened the scoring early in the 10th minute thanks to Marcus Gilpin.

Chasetown responded well despite going a goal down, and their efforts paid off in the 20th minute when a lovely cross from the right-hand side by Oli Hayward was headed into the net by Matt Hearsey to draw level at 1-1.

However, Loughborough Students struck back just four minutes later in the 24th minute as Kash Kasukumya put his team back in front at 2-1.

Chasetown continued looking to move forward when opportunities arrived, but Loughborough extended their lead further in the 38th minute with their third goal of the match courtesy of Tobeonna Ikegwuono.

Shortly after, in the 40th minute, Chasetown made a change, replacing Marques Trowers with Tak Sambizi.

Following three minutes of added stoppage time, the referee blew for half-time with Chasetown trailing 3-1.

Chasetown made a double substitution at the break, bringing on Luke Chapman and Kyle Moseley for Jack Langston and Nathan Blissett.

They started the second half on the front foot, having much the better opportunities through great link-up play down both flanks.

In the 56th minute, Chasetown introduced Matt Funge for Lachlan Suffell. As the game passed the hour mark, Chasetown continued to push forward while having to defend well at times.

Loughborough Students added a fourth goal in the 70th minute thanks to Josh Roddy to make it 4-1.

Chasetown struggled to keep possession as the game reached its closing stages, but they refused to give up and launched a late comeback in the 90th minute.

First, in the 91st minute, Matt Hearsey delivered a lovely cross from the left for Kyle Moseley to head home, and moments later in the 93rd minute, Kyle Moseley struck again for Chasetown’s third goal.

Despite the late fightback, Loughborough Students held firm through stoppage time to secure a 4-3 victory.
