Hearsey Strikes, Pond Saves, Scholars Triumph: Chasetown Advance on Penalties.

The match got off to an active start at The Scholars Ground, with Chasetown looking dangerous in the opening stages as they began the defence of their Walsall Senior Cup.

In the 10th minute, Chasetown started strongly with some good attacking runs by Matt Hearsey and Drew Turner. Just over ten minutes later, in the 21st minute, Jordan Evans came close with a splendid strike that unfortunately struck the side netting.

Matt Hearsey continued to threaten, first coming close in the 28th minute with a splendid curling effort on target that was safely caught by the Coleshill Town goalkeeper.

In the 31st minute, Hearsey turned provider with a lovely cross into the Coleshill Town box that was met by the head of Drew Turner, but the effort went just wide of the goal.

The game saw its first cards in the 38th minute when Matt Funge and a Coleshill Town player were both shown yellow cards.

Despite Chasetown's pressure, neither side could break the deadlock, and the teams went into half-time tied at 0–0.

Chasetown made a double substitution at half-time, bringing on Oli Finney and Oli Hayward to replace Matt Funge and Jordan Evans.

The changes paid off immediately after the restart. In the 47th minute, Matt Hearsey unleashed a low piledriver of a shot that powered past the keeper to open the scoring and give Chasetown a 1–0 lead.

In the 53rd minute, Luke Chapman received a yellow card for dissent. Two minutes later, Chasetown made another change as Dan Bradley replaced Ash Fallon.

In the 59th minute, Luke Chapman slid the ball across the Coleshill Town box to Matt Hearsey, who unfortunately poked his effort wide.

Chasetown continued to search for a second goal to gain some breathing space while remaining alert to Coleshill counter-attacks.

In the 72nd minute, Jack Langston replaced Dylan Thomas, but just a minute later, in the 73rd minute, Callum Coyle scored for Coleshill Town to level the game at 1–1.

The hosts pushed to reclaim their lead, with Jack Langston unleashing a low, powerful shot in the 80th minute that required a vital save from the Coleshill Town keeper.

Chasetown made a further substitution in the 82nd minute, bringing on Kyle Moseley for Drew Turner.

A few minutes later, down at the other end, Curtis Pond produced a crucial low save to keep Coleshill Town from snatching the lead.

Four minutes of added stoppage time were signalled at the end of the 90 minutes, but neither side could find a late winner in normal time.

With the match tied 1–1 at full-time and competition rules dictating that a winner must be decided on the night, the fixture went straight to penalties.

Chasetown held their nerve to win the penalty shootout 5–4, thanks to a Curtis Pond save, completing a dramatic victory and securing their place in the next round of the Walsall Senior Cup.
