The home side made a better start and took the lead after 16 minutes. Former Scholar Leigh Downing seemed to take a tumble under a challenge from Jermaine Johnson and another former scholar Danny Ashton reacted quickest to prod home.
Danny Griffiths tested home keeper Charlie Price and before the half was out a wicked in-swinging free kick from Richard Davies just needed a touch but somehow the ball stayed out.
Tivi ended the half with a chance for David Bellis whose effort zipped past the post.
Former Tividale striker Nathan Waite stung the gloves of Price at the star of the half but the home side dealt Craig Harris’ men a blow just after the hours when they broke quickly after a Chasetown free kick failed to reach t’s intended target. Downing, Deqwon Ebanks and Nigel Penney were all involved and full back Chris Field popped up to fire beyond the Scholars number one.
A match that saw a lot of niggles between both sides saw Chasetown reduced to ten men when Lee Downes who had received an earlier yellow card appeared to win the ball but the referee deemed the tackle worthy of a second yellow card.
