The visitors had the better of the opening half and restricted Chasetown’s attempts at goal.
Dynamo took a controversial lead in the 32nd minute when a contentious foul was deemed to be inside the penalty area when it seemed that any contact was outside the box. Matt Langham drove the penalty kick to John Bateman’s right and despite a touch from the Chase keeper, gave the Leicestershire side the lead.
Chasetown had a penalty appeal for handball turned down at the start of the second half but equalised just after the hour when Nick Turton – on his 29th birthday – got away from his defender and despite a save from Joe McCormack, Turton’s persistence saw the striker net his 4th goal in 3 games at the second attempt.
The home side were awarded a spot kick 7 minutes from time when substitute Danny Griffiths was sent tumbling inside the box and Griffiths powered his spot kick into the roof of the net.
Paul Sullivan put the icing on the cake with a long range curler to make it 3-1 and there was even time for Bateman to save a Rob Norris penalty as the Scholars put further distance between themselves and the bottom of the table.
