The Scholars took an eight minute lead when a Nathan Waite effort was blocked by goalkeeper Rob Peet and Paul Sullivan reacted quickest to steer home the rebound.
Waite almost double the home side’s advantage at the start of the second period with a fierce shot that deflected off the top of the Lincoln cross bar.
Sullivan struck the Lincoln post with a right footed effort just short of the hour with Peet wrong-footed.
Against the run of play, Lincoln were awarded a penalty when Chase skipper Chris Slater tripped Andy Hutchinson, with Danny Brooks converting the spot kick beyond John Bateman.
The visitors then had a sustained period of pressure – their first in the game – but perhaps deservedly, the hosts caught United on the break and Sullivan slipped the ball to an unmarked Waite who steadied himself and shifted the ball past a retreating defender and Peet before firing the ball into an empty net.
