
Mark Swann’s Chasetown put on a cracker of a show when they faced off with mid-table Bedworth United in a 2-1 victory.
Chasetown turned their early possession into a lead when Jack Langston lobbed a shot over Sam Lomax and into the net via the bar on the quarter hour mark.
Out of nowhere Bedworth grabbed an equaliser in the 77th minute when Tristian Dunkley tapped a equaliser home.
It was not level for long as Ryan Wynter rose to head home an in-swinging corner and give Chase a 2-1 lead.
The game turned on its head when Mitch Botfield received a straight red card for a lunging tackle that left Brett Lloyd in a heap on the floor.
The match had its first glimpse of life when Jack Langston fired a shot wide for Chasetown 5 minutes in. They came close again on the 11th minute when Oli Hayward fired a free kick narrowly over the bar. The men in blues domination on the game continued when Danny O’Callaghan struck a shot that had to be palmed clear by Sam Lomax in goal for Bedworth.
Chasetown attempted to reassert their dominance on the play when Aaron Ashford curled a shot over the bar.
The Scholars started the 2nd half as they finished the 1st with Jordan Evans drilling a shot that narrowly went past the far post.
In the 57th minute Chasetown spurned another chance when Danny O’Callaghan rose to meet a corner only for it to go narrowly wide.
Chasetown will look to start a run of form when they travel to fellow mid table candidate Sutton Coldfield town this Saturday 7th January with a slightly earlier kick off of 2pm.
