Chasetown came out 3-2 winners in a dramatic finish against Bootle at The Trevor Brown Memorial Ground.
Going into this game, both teams were level on points separated by just one goal in the table.
The first bit of action came almost immediately as Chasetown had the ball in the net in the first minute from the corner, but it was disallowed by the referee.
Bootle had an early chance but their effort from outside the box hit the left hand post.
On the quarter hour mark, Marvellous Onabirekhalnlen was tripped up in the box and Chasetown were awarded a penalty. Jack Langston sent the keeper the wrong way and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner.
Bootle's best chance of the half came when Ben Hodkinson's tried to curl his effort into the top corner but it was well saved by James Wren.
Bootle dominated the majority of the second half as Hodkinson was regularly testing Wren. His first effort swerved just over the bar, and followed up with an attempt that brushed the crossbar six minutes later.
With ten minutes to go, it looked as if it would not be Bootle's day. However, the referee awarded a penalty after a handball in the box. Wren guessed the right way for Owen Robinson's penalty but it was just out of reach.
Chasetown dug deep, and two minutes later, Jack Langston latched on to the end of a cross and knocked in a diving header at the back post to put the Scholars back in front.
However the visitors were awarded a second penalty two minutes later for another foul near the right hand post, which was converted by Robinson.
Just before added time, Onabirekhanlen found his feet and knocked the ball in from a goalmouth scramble to win 3-2.
The win lifted the Scholars up to 8th place in the table and two points behind the playoffs.
