In the early exchanges of the match, Chasetown aimed to establish some rhythm with a cross that found Langston, who couldn’t quite find the target and sent his effort wide under pressure. Joey Butlin then attempted to create something from a tight angle, but his shot sailed over the bar, reflecting the cautious nature of the opening period. Nantwich Town had their moments as well, coming close to taking the lead, but Chasetown goalkeeper Pond made a solid save to deny Tom Pratt.

As the half progressed, the Scholars gradually increased their pressure. Moments later, Langston tried his luck again, sending a shot across the surface that found Garratt waiting to collect.

After the break, Chasetown returned looking to assert themselves, and it was Oli Hayward who broke the deadlock in the 50th minute. Following a determined run from Jordan Evans, Hayward found the space to slot the ball home.

The Scholars quickly doubled their advantage when Nantwich’s James Melhado inadvertently scored an own goal after a defensive mix-up. Mitchel Clarke then added a third, converting a long ball that slipped between Garratt’s legs. Joe Thompson rounded off the scoring with a well-placed finish that saw him glide through the defense before slipping the ball over the diving Garratt.
