In the opening minutes of the match, Wythenshawe's Uche found the back of the net, slipping the ball past Pond to give his team an early lead.

The next ten minutes were rather subdued as both sides settled into the game, but it was Chasetown who began to assert themselves,dominating possession as they looked to respond.

Kris Taylor's free kick was flicked on by Vutlin, but Thompson was unable to connect before Hall intervened. Shortly after, Thompson came close to scoring with a stunning volley that sailed just over the crossbar.

The second half saw Wythenshawe double their advantage, with Uche striking again to leave Pond with no chance.

However, Chasetown refused to back down, and Hayward delivered a superb response, slotting the ball, after a well-placed cross, into the back post to spark hopes of a comeback.

Despite numerous attempts from Butlin and Langston in the final 20 minutes, Wythenshawe's defense held firm, denying the Scholars an equalizer.

With a loss on the road, Chasetown will keep their heads held high as they now turn their attention to their next league fixture against the City of Liverpool on Saturday.
