The first half kicked off with Butlin having a go, but his effort sailed over the bar. Not long after, Langston was brought down by Harrison, leading to a penalty and a red card for the Kidsgrove keeper. Langston coolly converted the spot-kick past the stand-in keeper, Pope.
Unitt came close to extending the lead, rattling the bar in a one-on-one with Pope. The blue boys then doubled their advantage with an unfortunate own goal from Goode.
As the second half began, Swanny made a tactical change, bringing Fenton on for K. Taylor. Unitt kept the pressure on, forcing Pope to tip his shot over the bar.
Wilding then tested Pope again, who made another great save, denying K.Taylor's follow-up effort right on the line.
Cater was active as well, dragging one shot just wide before forcing another fine save from Pope. The Scholars finally got their third goal when Cater slotted in a simple tap-in.
Glover tried his luck next, but Pope was up to the task once more. The final goal came from another own goal by Kidsgrove, wrapping up a solid performance for the scholars.
With a four-point cushion in the playoff battle, the Scholars now set their sights on Saturday's match against Mossley.
