The first half unfolded with a slow start for the scholars, as they struggled to find their rhythm. A promising moment came when Cater delivered a cross to Butlin, but unfortunately the attempt to find the back of the net faltered.

At the other end, Pond stepped up with a stunning save, denying Mossley a chance to advance.

Hayward showcased his skill with a low, driven pass that flashed back to him, leading to a cross into the box. However, Madigan was alert, safely gathering the ball.

Langston then unleashed a powerful effort that soared over the bar, and moments later, he had another opportunity, curling his shot just wide of the post.

As the second half commenced, Unitt made a determined push for a goal, only to see his shot bounce off the side of the post. He attempted to capitalize on the rebound but couldn’t find the net.

Hayward’s cross was thwarted by the Mossley defense, and a chaotic sequence ensued as Unitt fell to the ground, leading to a scramble that saw Fenton trying to connect with Hayward, who ultimately passed to Unitt, but the ball slipped away.

Butlin’s free kick got lost in the box, and despite their relentless efforts, the scholars couldn’t find that goal which was hard to grasp.
