The match got underway with a promising cross aimed at the back post, where Yates made a determined run but was denied by Passant, who confidently claimed the ball. It wasn't long before Runcorn struck first, with Doyle finding the net, only to be substituted shortly after his goal.
The Scholars thought they had equalized when Yates found the back of the net, but their celebrations were cut short as the linesman raised the flag for offside.
The Blue Boys responded with a brilliant equalizer. A well-placed cross from Hayward found Langston, who expertly cushioned the ball just inside the penalty area and slotted it home, leveling the score.
Moments later, Hayward had a chance to put his side ahead, but his effort, after a scramble in the box, deflected off a defender and resulted in a corner that ultimately came to nothing.
As the second half began, Yates attempted to set up Langston under pressure, but a mis-hit allowed Runcorn to regain control. They capitalized on this momentum, with Wall scoring to put them back in front.
The Scholars weren't done yet, though; Unitt was brought down in the box, earning a penalty. Langston stepped up and coolly sent the keeper diving the wrong way to equalize once more.
However, Runcorn had the last word when Crane scored, sending Pond the wrong way and sealing the match with a decisive lead.
The Scholars will now focus on their home fixture on Tuesday night to hopefully seal a victory against Vauxhall Motors.
