The match started off with Cater making an impressive run down the side hoping to cross the ball, but unfortunately found himself offside. The Cater corner was cleared decisively by the defense, but George quickly followed up with a cross aimed at Fenton. Fenton's header, however, soared over the crossbar, leaving the score level. Cater then attempted a shot but unfortunately missed the target entirely.
The action continued as Cater's cross bounced straight into play, and Cater made a determined run towards the net, only to narrowly miss his chance. Chasetown took the lead when Thompson made a swift run down the pitch, passing to Cater, who’s cross curled the ball which went straight past Fallon.
However the lead was shortly lived when Witton scored, Sotona’s effort went straight past Pond. The tension rose as George took a free kick just before Lundy exited the field. Evan’s throw-in found Cater, but a miskick added to the frustration. Unfortunately for Chasetown, Witton took the lead once again when Koral took a rebound and his shot went inside an upright after Pond parried Brazel’s drive.
As the second half kicked off, Wilding passed to A.Taylor, who played it back, only for the keeper to catch his effort. Fenton then aimed a header towards O’callaghan, but the referee's whistle interrupted the play. Sam Wilding found himself in possession but was quickly closed down by the defense, losing grip of the ball.
A.Taylor then connected with Oli, who passed back to A.Taylor but once again, the keeper was there to make the save. Hayward’s cross aimed for Wilding just missed by a hair's breadth to the left post. Shortly after, Pond’s free-kick then found Clarke, whose header bounced to A.Taylor, but the shot went wide.
However,Glover's pass to A.Taylor resulted in a shot that swooped over the goal, while Cater's cross got tangled with a header in the box and went out of play. Soon after, Chimenes then slipped while receiving a pass from Wilding missing a crucial opportunity.
Finally, K.Taylor crossed to Clarke, who made a gloved-back pass, and Glover took a shot, but it was yet another save for the keeper.
With this loss on the road, Chasetown still fight to secure their playoff place at the Scholars ground on Bank Holiday Monday against Hanley Town.
