After a quiet opening the managerless hosts took the lead in the 28th minute when Alex Steadman got into space and slid it across to Chris Richards who fired into an empty net.

In a half devoid of chances, Paul Sullivan came closest for Chasetown with a well struck free kick that Liam Roberts was equal to with a dive to his left.

After the interval, Chasetown took hold of the game and Jono Gould was narrowly wide of the post.

James Dance forced Roberts into a save at the near post before Lucas Harrison headed a Francino Francis chance off the line.

Substitute Nick Turton was clean through on goal with Roberts again saving as Chasetown took control.

Eventually the pressure paid off and Rhys Thompson's cross was sliced into his own goal by Jamie Barrett at the near post.
