Castle keeper Dave Parton made an early save from Paul Sullivan but it was the visitors who should have taken the lead when John Bateman made a stunning save to deny Ben Mills.

After 22 minutes the deadlock was finally broken after Danny Edwards pass was flicked forward by Sullivan and midfielder James Dance dinked the ball over Parton.

Harry Clayton blazed high over the bar from close range before Tim Sanders was a whisker wide as Newcastle created chances.

Sullivan added a third goal in the 83rd minute to round off an emphatic second half for the hosts with a stunning effort from the edge of the area.
