Chasetown’s first game of the season away from home, ended in a stalemate and Pond’s first clean sheet for the 25/26 season. By Lizz Scott

Langston came out with intent, earning a corner in the very first minute. The ball was swung in with purpose, but Fenton rose confidently to head it towards goal ,but cleared it instead as no one could get the ball quick enough.

Just five minutes later, Cater made a surging run down the right wing and delivered a dangerous cross into the area. It looked destined for the back of the net, but Terry reacted to stop chasetown progressing , stretching to his limit to tip it away with his fingertips.

Langston continued to press. In the 11th minute, a short corner routine saw the ball worked to Cater once more, but the opportunity was smothered and cleared quickly by an alert defence. Moments later, Clarke came within inches of scoring, meeting a cross with a powerful header that grazed just wide of the post.

Shortly after we saw another opportunity from a Langston free-kick, lofted deep into the box. However, no one timed their run well enough to meet it, and the chance drifted away untouched.

As the second half unfolded, Langston was awarded a promising free-kick just ten yards out. It was beautifully curled toward the far post, but Terry once again proved equal to it, plucking the ball confidently out of the air.

In the 78th minute, Ty Webster swung in a sharp corner that found Mitch in space, but before he could make anything of it, the defence scrambled the ball away with urgency.

Bradley was awarded a free-kick and delivered a pinpoint cross to Cook, who shaped a stunning curling effort which just swiped the net.

The most electrifying moment from the second half came from Cook, who showed brilliant drive to charge directly at the defence. With composure, he set his sights on goal and unleashed a shot — only to see it drift agonisingly wide of the post.

With a clean sheet and a point on the tally, Chasetown head into the match on Tuesday night at home against Shifnal Town, hoping to secure three points.
