Trafford took the lead early on when Bryne slotted the ball home to give the visitors an early advantage.

Chasetown responded well and were soon level through a moment of quality from Thorley. Who stepped up to take a free kick and curled a superb effort into the net to bring Chasetown back into the game. Thorley almost turned provider shortly after, sending a clever free-kick pass through to Langston, but the forward was unable to make the most of the opportunity.

The second half saw Chasetown push forward in search of a winner, creating a number of chances without finding the decisive finish. Kirton delivered several crosses into the box, though Butlin struggled to get on the end of them. Another Kirton delivery did find Langston, but his effort missed the target.

A Langston corner caused confusion in the box. Goalkeeper Booth attempted to gather the ball but spilled it under pressure from Chasetown, and soon after the referee halted play.

Bradley continued to cause problems down the flank, crossing into Langston who couldn’t react in time, before trying his luck himself with a shot that sailed over the bar. Chasetown went close again when a well-worked move saw Webster pick out Cater, but his effort drifted narrowly wide of the post and into the stands.

Late on, Langston crossed towards Chimenes, but once again Chasetown were unable to find the finishing touch as the contest ended with the sides unable to be separated.

Chasetown now shift their focus onto Tuesday night’s home Fixture in the Quarter finals of the Walsall Senior cup Senior cup against Boldmere St Michael’s.
