The game kicked off with an effort for the visitors which sailed over the crossbar. Shortly after Congleton had a scramble in the box with Pond going for his first save and diving on the floor, Congleton tried to get past him again but Chasetown’s defence held strong.
The first goal of the game came from a long switch of play from Hayward which found Evans deep on the left wing and his cross found Yates who’s header was saved fantastically by Parton but he could only parry to Langston who had the easiest task of slotting home from a couple yards out. Shortly after another goal came from Evans who sailed it past Parton to double the score for the Scholars.
Second half kicked off with Langston who got the game underway. A Congleton effort was then sent away from Pond to be cleared from danger. Shortly after a goal from Knapper was fired home to put Congleton back into the game. The last effort of the game was from Pond who diverted the visitors free kick wide to stop any bother. Congleton pressed for the majority of the second half but couldn’t nail an equaliser.
