The match got off to an active start as both teams started brightly.

Chasetown looked to respond in the 26th minute as Matt Hearsey struck a lovely shot on goal, but it was saved by the Nantwich Town goalkeeper.

Chasetown kept up their attacking momentum through the 33rd minute, using the width of the pitch and the flanks well, but the Nantwich Town defense kept them at bay.

The second half saw Chasetown maintain pressure, whipping numerous crosses into the box, but all were dealt with by the Nantwich Town defense.

In the 51st minute, Tak Sambizi was played through and managed to work his way around his defender to poke a shot away, but it was gathered by the Nantwich Town goalkeeper.

Chasetown continued attacking, and their persistence finally paid off in the 66th minute when Matt Hearsey scored with a splendid finish into the bottom-right corner to draw Chasetown level at 1–1.

Chasetown turned to their bench in the 70th minute, bringing on Jack Langston for Tom Thorley.

In the 72nd minute, Matt Hearsey dinked the ball over the Nantwich Town goalkeeper to put Chasetown ahead 2–1.

Chasetown refreshed their lineup in the closing stages, with Matt Funge and George Cater coming on in the 75th minute for Kyle Moseley and Logan Cousins, followed by Lachlan Suffell replacing Matt Hearsey in the 80th minute.

Drama struck in the 90th minute when Nantwich Town were awarded a late penalty.

Although goalkeeper Curtis Pond made an excellent double save, the ball was regathered by a Nantwich player who played the ball across the box for Fenton Lloyd Green of Nantwich Town to slot home, wrapping up a hard-fought 2–2 draw at full time.
