The match got off to an exciting start at Loom Loft Stadium as Clitheroe won the first corner in the 6th minute, which the Chasetown defence dealt with well.

Chasetown responded in the 10th minute when a great cross from George Cater nearly played in Matt Hearsey, but he ran out of room. A minute later, Chasetown recycled a cleared corner, crossing back into the box where Joel Kettle headed the ball just over the bar.

Clitheroe pushed back, forcing Chasetown to hold strong around the 18th minute. The hosts broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute when a cross from the left was headed home by Clitheroe's Nathan Sandison. Just a minute later, Harry Scarborough doubled Clitheroe's lead to make it 2-0.

Clitheroe made an early change in the 29th minute as Jordan Carroll was replaced by Ross Dent.

Chasetown pressed for a way back, with Tak Sambizi making great runs and Jack Langston linking up play well, but the hosts held a 2-0 lead at the break after three minutes of stoppage time.

Chasetown introduced Kyle Moseley and Matt Funge for Tak Sambizi and Lachlan Suffell at halftime.

After a 49th-minute Chasetown corner went out, tempers flared in the 51st minute, resulting in yellow cards for Chasetown's Matt Funge and Kevin Monteiro.

Chasetown's persistence paid off in the 55th minute when Matt Hearsey hit a curling strike into the top right corner.

Six minutes later, Chasetown were awarded a penalty, and Jack Langston stepped up to fire it home for 2-2.

Logan Cousins replaced George Cater in the 70th minute as Chasetown kept up the pressure. However, Clitheroe struck against the run of play in the 79th minute when a corner scramble allowed Clitheroe's Jason Gilchrist to fire home and restore the hosts' lead at 3-2.

Chasetown brought on Luke Chapman for Marques Benjamin Trowers in the 85th minute, but Clitheroe managed the closing stages to secure a 3-2 victory.
