

The match got off to an active start at The Scholars Ground, as by the 10th minute, Chasetown had been under pressure for a few minutes, but the defence held strong and kept Prescot Cables out.
Chasetown struck in the 14th minute when they broke away after winning the ball back in the Prescot Cables half. Quick link-up play in the penalty box set up Matt Hearsey, who slotted it past the keeper to score, putting Chasetown in front at 1–0.
In the 18th minute, Matt Hearsey thought he had scored his second goal of the game, but unfortunately, the referee blew the whistle and ruled it a foul on the Prescot Cables goalkeeper.
Oli Hayward received the game's first yellow card in the 28th minute for a foul on a Prescot Cables player.
By the 38th minute, Chasetown continued to defend deep and were successfully keeping Prescot Cables out.
Unfortunately for Chasetown they couldn't keep Prescot Cables out has Prescot Cable's Jake Burton scores in the 43rd minute to tie the game up 1-1.
It was half time shortly after at The Scholars Ground, with the score level at 1–1 at the break.
At the start of the second half, Chasetown made a substitution, bringing on Kyle Moseley for Matt Hearsey.
Chasetown quickly added a second goal in the 52nd minute when a lovely ball was played across goal by Dylan Thomas. The Prescot Cables goalkeeper Tony Thompson got a hand on it, but accidentally knocked it back into his own net to make it 2–1.
By the 60th minute, Chasetown was looking the stronger of the two sides as the second half continued.
Chasetown made a substitution in the 68th minute, bringing on Luke Chapman for Matt Funge.
Prescot Cables turned the game around by scoring two quick goals, making it 2–2 in the 76th minute thanks to Tony Donaldson and taking the lead at 3–2 in the 78th minute thanks to James Foley.
Chasetown made another substitution in the 81st minute, bringing on Nathan Blissett for Oli Finney.
Prescot Cables scored their fourth goal of the match in the 86th minute thanks to John Murphy who helped extend Prescot Cable lead to 4–2.
Chasetown fought back in the 88th minute when Dylan Thomas scored, narrowing the deficit to 4–3.
In the 90th minute, there were four added minutes of stoppage time.
Prescot Cables safely saw out the remainder of the match to secure a 4–3 victory at The Scholars Ground.
