AFC Rushden and Diamonds 1 Chasetown 3
An end to end match saw both sides create chances. An early Nathan Rooney shot was flicked over the bar by Matt Finlay.
Home centre back Liam Dolman curled a goalbound free kick just under the Scholars crossbar but John Bateman reached to palm the ball over.
Dolman gave the hosts the lead just after the half hour with a low shot to Bateman’s right ten minute before half time.
Just before the half time interval Chasetown drew level when Rooney’s corner to the far post was headed back across to skipper James Dance who headed home from six yards.
Chasetown took the lead just after the hour. Full back Matt Curley burst into the penalty area and his cutback was adjudged to have been handled by Dolman. Rooney dispatched the resultant spot kick straight down the centre of Finlay’s goal.
The Scholars extended their lead in the 68th minute when Paul Sullivan chipped a cross to the far post and Ryan Wynter rose to head back across goal into the back of the net.
Josh Ruff almost made it four late on as the Staffordshire dominated on their way to three points.
