Chasetown 0 Belper Town 0
Belper remain a bit of a bogey side to Chasetown as, at the seventh attempt, The Scholars are still winless at home against the Derbyshire side.
Defences were largely on top during the proceedings but the best chances fell to Dave Stringer’s men – although Belper did have the ball in the net once, ruled out for offside in the second half.
Chasetown had the better of the goal attempts before the break and Mitchell Piggon was a whisker wide with a glancing header.
After the break, substitute Josh Ruff found the side netting from a tight angle with the hosts on top.
Chasetown’s Matt Wood had received a yellow card in the first half but was sent off with a challenge deemed a straight red by referee Mr Pratt around the hour mark.
Chase keeper John Bateman made a stunning save to deny Jermaine Hollis from point blank range but that was the only real threat on Bateman’s second consecutive clean sheet.
Despite being a man light, Paul Sullivan was inches away with a curling effort which had Danny Haystead scrambling towards his post.
Even with the ten men, Chasetown looked most keen to net a winner with the visitors seemingly content with a point. Nathan Rooney fired well wide with a miscued effort at goal and Ruff whipped a dangerous cross into the near post sidenetting as Chasetown looked the most likely to win the game.
