Chasetown needed a good response after their FA Cup exit and made a dream start after 3 minutes. Josh Ruff and Matt Wood combined and the latter's cross was headed home by Ryan Wynter.
Northwich should have levelled in the 27th minute. A defensive mistake let in Jamie Hinchcliffe and clean through on goal keeper Curtis Pond got down well to palm wide with a strong right hand.
A minute into the second half Vics hit the post through Hinchcliffe and Yaw Gyimah blazed the rebound over the bar from close range.
Midway through the half Hinchcliffe shot on the run from the angle but Pond was equal to it at his near post.
Victoria were guilty of some lacklustre finishing and Chasetown’s clean sheet remained intact with another wayward finish from Dan Cockerline.
Chasetown debutant Josh Craddock was a whisker away from doubling the hosts lead with a header from Ruff’s corner headed off the line by Tyler Edwards.
Pond earned the man of the match award with another top save to deny John Pritchard from twelve yards.
It was no surprise when Northwich finally equalised. Cockerline teed up Hinchcliffe and this time Pond was powerless.
Chasetown responded well and Wynter’s drive from wide right was punched clear by Mason Springthorpe and Seb Lake-Gaskin was blocked by Lanre Olopade.
The Scholars almost sneaked the three points at the end as James Dance cutback the ball to Jack Langston who was kept out by a flying save from Springthorpe.
