Just after the half hour Chasetown were unfortunate not to level. Nathan Rooney’s shot goalwards was brilliantly saved by Mike Duggan and the Spalding keeper recovered well to make a second save from Mitchell Piggon’s close range effort.

Chasetown levelled at the start of the second half. Peter Till’s cross was headed against the crossbar by James Dance and Piggon fired home the rebound.

The home side took control and a skiddy effort from Jack Langston zipped off the wet surface and inches wide of Duggan’s right hand post.

Chasetown had two strong penalty appeals for challenges on Dance waved away in quick succession in the 80th minute as the home side looked to find the winner.

Neither side could force a decisive goal though and Chasetown are still unbeaten in league matches against their Lincolnshire opponent.
