After a scrappy opening quarter, Chasetown drew first blood just before the half hour mark. Josh Ruff turned Tulips skipper Nathan Stainfield and fired a powerful shot past Richard Walton.

Spalding levelled in the 37th minute through a Lee Beeson penalty after Leon Mettam was sent tumbling by Liam Holt.

Chasetown were a whisker away from regaining the lead with a first time Jack Langston effort that struck the underside of the Spalding cross bar.

The hosts were awarded a second penalty in the 70th minute after Mike Williams tripped Jordan Lemon and Beeson stepped up and converted his second spot kick.

Chasetown were reduced to ten men after Mitch Piggon picked up a second yellow card for dissent.
