Newcastle took the lead after just 6 minutes. The visitors were allowed to play on despite a Chasetown player down injured and Chris Baker fired past Curtis Pond.
Castle almost doubled their lead in the 36th minute as Daniel Cocks curled a free kick against the base of the Chasetown post.
The home side were reduced to ten men early in the second half when Chris Slater received a second yellow card for a foul near the halfway line.
Chasetown levelled on the hour mark when Joe Thomas chased down what seemed like a lost cause and poked the ball past Dave Parton after a mix up with his defender.
Despite being a man down, Chasetown looked the most likely to get the win with Thomas going close with an effort into the side netting.
In the final minute, Newcastle were awarded a controversial penalty after Rhys Thompson was deemed to have fouled Cocks and Jordan Cole despatched an undeserved winner.
