After a patient opening to the game Chasetown made the breakthrough in the 25th minute. Skipper Jack Langston charged down a defensive clearance and slipped the ball perfectly through to George Cater.

Keeper David Reay advanced and Cater looked up selflessly to set up Will Whieldon for a comfortable finish.

Chasetown doubled their lead with a Cater effort from the edge of the box that took a slight deflection off a defender and whizzed past Reay.

The rain lashed down at the start of the second half and just before the hour Cater almost added his second with a curling shot that Reay pushed wide at full stretch.

Steels almost pulled one back with a free kick from the half way line that bounced high and struck the Chasetown crossbar.

Whieldon then had a great chance for 3-0 but lobbed the ball just wide of the upright.

Stocksbridge pulled one back when Scott Ruthven nipped in and fired in off the post.

Chasetown re opened up the two goal lead with a goal of the highest quality. Whieldon curled in a free kick to the back post and Chris Baker took the ball on his chest and looped a header over the keeper.

Both sides had their moments in the final quarter of the game but the three points confirmed Chasetown will be in next Tuesday's play off semi final.
