Newcastle Town 2 Chasetown 4
Chasetown started well and the hosts had to repel a lot of attacks down the Chasetown left.
Newcastle took the lead against the run of play in the 21st minute. A shot was saved by Curtis Pond and the rebound fell to Ryan McLean in the 6 yard box who tapped it home.
Ryan Wynter went close with a header from a Joe Brown cross as the visitors looked to level.
Pond then made a stunning fingertip save to maintain the 1 goal deficit.
Just before the interval, Castle really should have doubled the lead but Jordan Cole fired over the bar from 6 yards.
Newcastle were awarded a spot kick in first half stoppage time and Cole fired beyond Pond who went the right way.
Ten minutes into the second half, the Scholars almost found a way back into the game when Jack Langston rattled the Town crossbar.
It was deserved when Chasetown pulled a goal back just after the hour. After Langston’s corner was cleared, Will Whieldon and Joe Brown teed up another Langston cross and Liam Kirton stole in to net.
Three minutes later, another Langston corner was partially cleared and when the ball was hooked back in from the right by Tom Urwin, Langston volleyed home the loose ball.
On 73 minutes, Chasetown turned the game round as Kirton dummied a Brad Carr pass and Wynter was tripped. Langston smashed the penalty past Harry Pickering.
4 minutes from time, Kirton chased a ball from Carr and was tugged from behind. Referee Mr Nolan pointed to the spot again and Langston smashed home his hat trick.
