The side were on top throughout with the home side’s chances kept in single figures as Chase produced tight football and attacking style worthy of a promotion-chasing side.
The Scholars made a bright start with Ben Jevons firing straight at Vikings keeper Jamie Ward in the first minute, before Grant Ryan went close on two occasions with his second chance flying over the bar.
The hosts had their first opportunity via a Rory Prendergast free kick but Chris Horton headed clear, and in the 12th minute it was the visitors who took the lead when a free kick from Gavin Saunders was headed home by skipper Dave Egan with Ward nowhere in sight.
Richard Woolley was making his debut for the Scholars in goal after Ryan Price was ruled out with an ankle injury, and he saw his first action as he collected a Prendergast free kick at the second attempt as the hosts tried to fight back.
The Vikings lost Glyn Cotton to injury following a collision with Jevons on 26 minutes, and shortly after a superb shot from Gary Hay flew wide as did the striker’s next effort following another Saunders free kick.
Two minutes before the break Ryan’s shot hit the stanchion at the rear of the goal, and Chasetown continued to look the stronger side, John Branch clearing a Prendergast corner to conclude the action.
Half time: Goole AFC 0 Chasetown 1.
Two minutes into the second half the Scholars’ lead was doubled when Ramone Stephens was brought down by Chris Glavery in the area and Ryan stepped up to send Ward the wrong way from the penalty spot.
The side were working superbly with the defence marshalled by welcome returnee Richard Teesdale who had replaced the injured Chris Slater, and on 53 minutes Jevons fired just over but ten minutes later the midfielder smashed a right-footed drive past Ward for his first goal for the Scholars.
Six minutes later Danny Smith chased down a loose ball and played back to Jevons who unleashed a screaming shot into the roof of the net for his second and Chasetown’s fourth of the afternoon.
There was still plenty of time for a fifth, which came on 78 minutes when Stephens slid the ball to Egan who blasted his second past the helpless Ward.
Goole’s only real chance of the half came with eight minutes to go as Woolley fumbled a Prendergast free kick but Mark Branch was able to clear, and the Scholars closed the game down for a fully deserved victory.
