Dynamo had the best early chance, with Robert Norris curling a dipping free kick narrowly over Ryan Price’s crossbar.
Although Chasetown had good possession territorially, Price was the busier goalkeeper in the first half, keeping out two efforts from Bruno Holden, one a speculative attempt at his near post and the second four minutes later low in front of his body.
It was Chasetown, however, who would argue they were denied the best chance of the half to open the scoring. Ramone Stephens outpaced Nathan Watson and was tugged back initially outside the area with the offence continuing inside the penalty box. Referee Mr Postin pointed immediately to the penalty spot only to be surrounded by aggrieved Loughborough players. Mr Postin consulted with his Assistant to then award a free kick outside the box, which Simon Brown took, deflected for a Scholars corner.
Nine minutes into the second period, the lively Holden struck the inside of Price’s right hand post and luckily for Chasetown the loose ball ran clear of any onrushing players.
Paul Sullivan was introduced to partner Nick Wellecomme and it was the two of them who combined to force Laurie Pearson into a sharp save, falling onto the ball in front of his body and holding on.
Late on, Price had to palm over a long range effort from right back Norris while in the dying seconds, a Brown corner was cleared only as far as Jack Farmer on the edge of the area and his shot flew narrowly over the crossbar.
