Chasetown started brightly and an early Jack Langston shot flashed just wide of the post.
The Scholars deservedly took the lead in the 27th minute when Ben Lund fired a low effort passed Jonathan Brown.
Skipper Danny O’Callaghan almost added a second with a shot from outside the box that deflected inches over the crossbar.
Chasetown kept knocking on the door and Joey Butlin had a goalbound shot blocked bravely by Luke Redfern.
Jordan Evans, O’Callaghan and then Langston combined with the latter’s right footer coming back off the post.
Brown then saved full length a deflected Langston drive as the hosts looked to wrap up the points.
Chase kept on the front foot throughout the second period. Butlin forced a save from Brown and then Dilano Reid almost broke the crossbar with a thundering left footer from inside the box.

Tom Bowen's report...
The Status Quo is maintained at the top of the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands as all of the top four sides scored three points. Chasetown emerged victorious at The Scholars Ground on Saturday, as they beat Sutton Coldfield Town 1-0.
In an unchanged line up from the defeat against Carlton Town, the Scholars started on the front foot. In the first twenty minutes, Liam Kirton, Joey Butlin, Ben Lund and Jack Langston had all failed to connect with through balls from the midfield. Another shot from Butlin in the 22nd minute went just wide of the left-hand post, properly challenging Jonathan Brown in the Sutton Coldfield goal for the first time.
Scholars’ goalkeeper Curtis Pond wasn’t too troubled throughout the first half, and only had one real chance of note to worry about in the 25th minute when Leo Brown’s shot sailed over the bar.
Two minutes later, Lund found his way into the box and had a shot from just over twelve yards out. The Chasetown number 11 kept himself composed and fired the ball past Brown and into the back of the net.
After the interval, the Scholars kept up the number of chances on Sutton Coldfield’s goal. Dilano Reid constantly managed to exploit wide areas, but the defence remained firm to turn shots away.
There was a final chance for the Scholars late on, as Reid cut inside the box and rattled the crossbar with his effort.
Three games remain for both sides, with Chasetown’s next league game being away at Wisbech Town. The Cambridgeshire side’s win against Histon today secured Sutton Coldfield Town’s survival in the division for next season
