Second string Chasetown brushed aside by full strength Rushall Olympic

Tonight Chasetown made the short journey to Rushall Olympic and were beaten 4-0.

The first half was dominated by “the pics” and they had a chance within the first five minutes when Tyler Lytlle hit a free kick over the bar.

On the quarter hour mark Daniel Glover hit a shot for the home side which whistled wide via a deflection.

The only notable chance the Scholars had in the first half was when Dilano Reid clipped a cross near the far post into the path of Kyle Perry but the ball was intercepted by Thomas Palmer in the Rushall goal just before Perry could head in.

Rushall made their domination count when a cross found its way to Captain Richard Batchelor who headed into the back of the net to give them a 1-0 lead.

In the second half Chasetown almost immediately equalised when Jakub Burroughs ran to the edge of the box and hit a cross-shot that flashed across the goal and bounced out at the other end with no one finding the crucial touch.

On the hour mark Chris Slater came close to levelling the scores when he unleashed a rocket of a shot that Palmer had to palm wide.

Rushall’s lead was doubled when ex Scholar Batchelor hit a long range shot that smashed into the back of the net doubling his and the team tally for the night.

Two minutes later Rushall scored their third when a cross was played to former England u17 international Ricardo Calder who turned and hit home to make the score 3-0.

Rushall came close again when Calder hit a shot that rattled the outside of the post.

15 minutes from time Rushall scored again when Sam Whittle headed home to secure the pics a 4-0 win.

Rushall will now progress to the final against Sporting Khalsa while Chasetown will continue their battle for silverware when they continue their hunt for the league title away to Wisbech Town this Saturday the 16th of April 3pm kick off.
