Simon Brown converted an 84th minute penalty to level the tie at 2-2 before substitute Mitchell McDonald scored a goal that would grace any game, racing through to beat goalkeeper Richard Froggatt to the ball and skipping past the Rocester keeper to fire the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle.
Rocester had taken an 8th minute lead when Liam Shaw directed a free header beyond debutant Curtis Pond, but Chasetown levelled nine minutes later when Theo Robinson fired home from a Danny Edwards cross.
The visitors regained the lead in atrocious weather conditions when Dan Brown's shot squirmed in at the keeper's right hand post and almost made it 3-1 at half-time when Pond pulled off a top save to deny Brown his second.
Brown's penalty after he was fouled himself and McDonald's late winner ensured the home fans, at least, went home the happier of the two sets of supporters.
