After a quiet opening Chasetown took the lead midway through the first half. George Washbourne teed up Paul Sullivan whose left footer was tipped onto the post by Ben Chapman and Nick Turton tapped the rebound into an empty net.
Five minutes before half time Grove levelled after a cross from the left was clinically headed home by Andy Kinsey.
On the stroke of half time, Sullivan twisted and turned in the area and struck the base of the post for the second time.
Early in the second period Turton thought he had restored Chasetown's lead but the assistant's flag ruled out the effort for offside.
Kidsgrove went straight up the other end and John Bateman flung himself across to deny an almost certain goal from Joe Woolley.
In the 75th minute, Chasetown conceded possession in the defensive third and from the resultant corner, Paul Taylor’s header deflected past Bateman.
