Chasetown 9 Brocton 0
FA Emirates Cup
The home side made a positive start and rained in shots on the visiting goal
It was no surprise when they opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Ryan Wynter’s near post cross eluded team mate Paul Sullivan but was put past his own goalkeeper by right back Kenny Devoir.
It didn't take long for the hosts to extend their lead with Wynter heading in off the post from a Josh Ruff cross (18).
Wynter made it 3.0 in the 20th minute with a crisp shot in off the post before Mitchell Piggon - who had scored 9 goals in pre-season - opened his Scholars account with a fourth goal inside the first quarter of the game (22).
Brocton had a couple of chances that produced saves from John Bateman and had a goal disallowed for offside but it was the home side who held the initiative at the interval.
Callum Barrett made great saves to deny Piggon and Ruff as Chasetown pushed to get their record win in the competition.
Sam Bell almost pulled one back with a long range effort which dipped under the crossbar and Bateman scurried back to palm over the bar.
Chasetown took a while but eventually made it 5-0 with a goal of class from Jack Langston (67) who lobbed it over the final defender and slid the ball confidently past Barrett.
Sullivan saw efforts saved by Barrett before turning provider in the 76th minute. The hosts made it 6-0 after Sullivan beat the offside trap and unselfishly squared the ball to Pierce Kiembi who somehow rattled the crossbar from three yards and Langston slammed home the rebound.
Langston made it 7-0 netting his hat trick off the substitute’s bench after a Kiembi cutback (81).
The impressive Josh Ruff added an eighth in the 89th minute through the legs of Barrett after Nathan Rooney chipped to the far post then Ruff added his second and Chasetown's ninth after Sullivan again turned provider.
