Piggon made a stunning save to deny Kieran Wells but then Wells gave the hosts the lead with a looping header over Piggon.
Just after the hour Basford extended their lead with a good passing movement and Callum Smith fired beyond the grasp of Piggon.
Chasetown were reduced to ten men with Mike Williams sent off for two bookable offences.
In the 90th minute, Wells added his second with a cool finish with the visiting defence exposed.
