Three and easy!

Three and easy!

Paul Mullins2 Sep 2017 - 22:04

Chasetown made light work of their Midland League opponents to progress in the Emirates FA Cup.

Chasetown made the better start and went close in the opening 15 minutes with a Muzzy Nduna header inches wide of the upright.

Nduna then twisted and turned inside the penalty but saw keeper Lewis Fenney block his final effort at the near post.

Chasetown’s number 9 again looked likely to open the deadlock with a low drive that span off the defender and agonisingly wide of Feeney's post.

The Scholars finally broke through 7 minutes before half time. Will Whieldon tried his luck from 25 yards which flew beyond the dive of the Boldmere keeper.

A minute before half time, the hosts had a golden chance to level as substitute Max Black stole in at the far post but headed straight at Curtis Pond.

Chasetown doubled their lead in first half stoppage time. Chris Baker headed into the path of Nduna whose first effort was saved by Fenney but he tapped home the rebound.

Josh Craddock almost added a third, only to be denied by a fingertip save.

The third was no surprise when it came though. George Cater crossed from the right wing and Nduna guided a volley home from 6 yards.

The Mikes rode their luck ten minutes from time. Whieldon’s daisy cutter was flicked onto the post by Fenney and Jake Lovatt’s rebound struck the crossbar.

Lovatt had a late effort ruled out for offside before Whieldon struck the post again in the final minute.
