Chasetown run riot in a 13 goal thriller!

Chasetown welcomed Pelsall Villa Colts on a warm, sunny spring day. Both teams observed a one-minute silence before the game, which was respected by the fans.

Pelsall kicked off the match, but it was Chasetown who started on the front foot. Chloe East-Goodman dispossessed Pelsall’s centre-back, finding Kaz Clough, who slotted the ball into the bottom left corner.

Chasetown didn’t stop there. A well-timed pass from Lessi Birkett found Kyrie Ball, whose shot went narrowly wide.

Chasetown were truly relentless in the opening 10 minutes and had more to show for it. Chloe East-Goodman delivered an excellent ball behind the defence to Clough, who again found the bottom left corner.

Despite being 2-0 up in under 10 minutes, Chasetown didn’t let up. Katie Holmes delivered a ball over the top that Clough latched onto, lobbing the keeper with a fantastic half-volley.

Chasetown were piling on the pressure, and after East-Goodman’s shot was blocked, Clough pounced on the rebound to make it 4-0.
Pelsall had a chance of their own when their number 15 made a run behind the defence, but her shot glanced just shy of the post, serving as a warning to Chasetown’s defence.

Following a strong attacking phase, Chasetown won a corner. Lessi Birkett’s header from a well-delivered cross rifled into the roof of the net, making it 5-0.

A slick passing move between Connie Wootton and Kyrie Ball led to Wootton breaking free and forcing a shot into the bottom left corner to make it 6-0. Excellent play all around.

Chasetown were completely dominant in the first half, and their performance reflected that. Connie Wootton’s looping cross to the back post found Tash Hughes, who poked it in to make it 7-0.

Just before half-time, Naomi Greene won the ball from a goal kick, finding Clough with a through ball. Clough rifled it past the keeper to make it 8-0 going into the break.

Chasetown were heading into the second half with a commanding lead, fully satisfied with their superb performance and scoreline.

The second half started superbly for Chasetown, with a searching ball from Kyrie Ball finding Tash Hughes at the back post, though her attempt narrowly missed.

It didn’t take long for Chasetown to extend their lead. Tash Hughes laid the ball off to Kyrie Ball, who curled her shot into the top right corner, making it 9-0.

Chasetown were still hunting for more, and it almost came from a Katie Holmes free-kick that landed at Imogen Marchesi’s feet, but her shot narrowly missed.

After some free-flowing football, Chasetown won another corner. Holmes delivered a fantastic ball to the back post, where Tash Hughes nudged it in to make it 10-0.

Almost instantly, Chasetown were on the attack again. A fantastic one-two between Ella Smith and Tash Hughes put Hughes through on goal, and she calmly placed the ball into the bottom right corner.

Chasetown were truly running away with the game, but they didn’t let up. Kyrie Ball’s corner from the far side was too difficult for the keeper to deal with, looping over her head and into the net to make it 12-0.

Still pushing for more, Chasetown’s efforts in Pelsall’s box saw Jess Savage’s shot rattle the post, coming agonizingly close.

Finally, after a wonderful acrobatic effort to keep the ball in play, Lessi Birkett’s cross found Tash Hughes, who finished it off for her second goal of the match, making it 13-0.

It was a dominant performance from Chasetown, bringing much-needed confidence back to the team after their unfortunate Cup Semi-Final loss. This superb display ensures they gain momentum in the League Vase.
