Saturday saw an early effort from Nathan Cameron being the only separating factor between The Scholars and league leaders Lower Breck. The victory for Chasetown means that we find ourselves at the start of play on Tuesday night in 4th place. The defeat for Lower Breck was their first of the season, but they still have a 4-point cushion between them and second place, Vauxhall Motors.

Meanwhile our visitors Wythenshawe Town find themselves at the other end of the table in 16th. Having played nine games and securing nine points from these games (W2, D3, L4).

Town started their season with a 2-0 defeat at Kidsgrove Athletic. A Wealth DaSilva strike helped them earn their first point on the 12th of August with a 1-1 draw with Bootle which was followed up with a 3-0 defeat versus Stafford Rangers. Bank Holiday Monday saw Wythenshawe Town earn their first win at the fourth attempt when Jonny Nixon and Danny Edwards secured a 2-1 win at Trafford which was followed up with a 2-0 defeat versus Shifnal. September started with successive 2-2 home draws versus Mossley and Avro. Our visitors have since registered a 4-1 loss at Vauxhall Motors as well as a 3-2 victory at Sporting Khalsa.

Last season, Chasetown had mixed fortunes against Wythenshawe Town with the home fixture in December 2024 being a 2-0 victory over the visitors – goals scored by Danny Glover and Danny O’Callaghan. But the reverse fixture in January 2025 saw the Scholars lose 2-1 with the solitary goal for Chasetown being scored by Oli Hayward.

This game could be seen as crucial for both teams with Chasetown trying to move up to second in the league (with a victory for the Scholars and other results going the right way). At the opposite end of the table Wythenshawe will be looking for a victory to help pull themselves further away from the drop zone. A victory for them could see them move as high as 12th if results fell their way.
